With the first six weeks of 2020 under our belts, now is the perfect time to look ahead with excitement at all that the next 30 days holds. There is a lot happening in the North along with some major calendar milestones! First, a long weekend with Family Day followed by a bonus day thanks to the Leap Year. Next up is International Women’s Day and then for many of us March Break. Annie The Musical

Where: Sudbury Theatre Centre
Theatre Cambrian and The Sudbury Theatre Centre are coming together for a special partnership to bring to life the classic story of Little Orphan Annie.
Ice Follies
When: February 15 – 29
Where: Lake Nipissing, Off Marathon Beach, North Bay
Ice Follies is a biennial festival of contemporary art on frozen Lake Nipissing, which sits at the heart of our communities and becomes an accessible site for a short period of time in winter. On a canvas as tranquil as it is volatile, the works are placed in direct harmony with light, water, wind, ice and snow.
In 2020, this event unique to North Bay opens on February 15, including sculptural, video, and performance-based installations and interactions. Artists exhibited from across Canada include Destiny Swiderski, Jon Sasaki, Emily Pelstring, Christine Negus, Aanmitaagzi, Megan Feheley, Jenna Dawn Maclellan, and more.
Family Day Weekend Sleigh Ride Fun!
When: February 15 – 17
Where: Wagon Wheel Ranch, Hanmer
Enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride through picturesque trails! The 1.5 hour sleigh ride including a 40 minute bonfire stop in the stunning snowy forest. Then, enjoy complimentary access to the petting zoo, where you’ll meet the friendliest furry friends! Daily rides at 11 am and 1 pm every day during Family Day Weekend (reservations required)
National Ice Fishing Day

Where: 1886 Lake-house Bistro, Callander
Free fishing on the lake for everyone – join us after for complimentary coffee, tea or hot chocolate for the kids. No takeout. Come cozy up with us!
Mom Daughter Snowshoe/Yoga
When: February 16
Where: Rustic Yoga & Fitness Studios, Val Caron
This special event is reserved for moms and daughters. Enjoy a guided snowshoe through the forest. Then gather inside for cleansing refreshments and a fun rejuvenating Yoga session. Spaces are limited.
Family Fun Day!

SnowFest
When: February 21 and 22
Where: Main St, Huntsville
After cheering on the Nordic Ski Teams at the provincals on February 21, grab your winter gear and head to the fun at SnowFest from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Main Street will be a back-lit winter wonderland where you can play all night long or break up the fun with unique shopping and dining opportunities. Try skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking, and skating on Main Street at this free and family-friendly event which continues for a full day of fun on February 22. Adults can also partake in a pub crawl at 6 establishments.
Night on the Town in Your Gown

Where: Grande Event Centre, North Bay
Grab your wedding dress, bridesmaid dress, little black dress, ANY dress and your best girlfriends and get ready to eat, drink and dance the night away for a great cause. Proceeds from NOTT 2020 will be 100% in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada
Bringing Back the Pour
When: February 25
Where: Gateway City Brewery, North Bay
Back by popular request, we’re bringing back the pour… the acrylic pour that is!
Come enjoy a fun night of paint pouring at the wonderful Gateway City Brewery! The price of your ticket includes two poured canvasses, a pour from the bar and all materials! Extra canvases will be available for purchase at the event (cash only). I will supply a variety of tools for customizing your canvas a wide array of paint colours and all pouring mediums.
Please plan to bring canvases home wet (sheet cardboard etc. To protect your vehicle.
This is an event that focuses on the art and social interaction so come and have some fun and get messy with us!

A Comedy of Errors

The Comedy of Errors is one of William Shakespeare’s early plays. It is his shortest and one of his most hilarious comedies, with a major part of the humor coming from slapstick and mistaken identity.

Junction North International Documentary Film Festival

Living with Intention is a 3 Day International Women’s Day Conference & Celebration.
The weekend is filled with featured speakers, facilitators, evening socials, catered meals, engaging activities and mindfulness practices. You will be surrounded with like-minded women, gaining insight, inspiration, and just Live, Love, Laughing fun.
This is our 3rd Annual Women Inspiring Women Conference which has created positive change in the personal and professional lives of many women both individually and collectively.
The goal this year’s Women Inspiring Women Conference is to contribute towards funding a Youth Self-Esteem Weekend for 50 local teenage girls to attend at no cost.
March Break Day Camp
When: March 9-13
Where: Nordic Ski Club, North Bay
Open to Ages 4-11. Participants will have the opportunity to cross country ski, snowshoe, build snow shelters, play in depth nature games in the snow, track animals, do snow experiments, and do winter crafts. articipants are expected to bring their own nut-free lunch. Additional snacks will be provided. The camp is run by Nature & You Outdoor Education staff, who have many years of experience working with children in an outdoor setting.
