Val is franco-ontarian Woodland Métis of the French River Métis Tribe. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Health Psychology and a Masters of Science in Neuroscience both from Carleton University. As a consultant at Maiikana, Val is a part of a circle made up of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous experts who believe in building sustainable mutually beneficial partnerships. Their combined experiences and expertise allow them to fully engage on projects and leverage each other’s strengths and gifts, ensuring the best possible outcome for partner organizations. At Maiikana, Val is committed to bringing health and wellness literacy, access and mobility to those typically marginalized.
Val’s expertise in translating health and wellness knowledge into strategic opportunities have helped many communities and organizations. She is known for her ability to create a safe environment where others are informed, empowered, and collaborative. At In Full Bloom Val will be representing the Noojimo Health Circle and lead us in honouring the land & caretakers of this territory. She will share her personal journey of how she connects and honours the land through wellness along with the ways in which we can all individually connect with the land and help others grow their relationship to it to improve not only their wellbeing but also respect for land.
